The National Treasury has set aside Ksh2.2 trillion in the new proposed budget in a bid to achieve programs within the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) if the new budget is implemented.

According to the 2024/25 Programme Based Budget, the National Treasury has set aside Ksh4.876 billion for the Office of the Deputy President for effective delivery of services.

This is an increment of Ksh59 million allocated to the Office in comparison to the 2023/24 financial year.

The amount will be distributed in four key programmes in his Office: General Administration and Support Services, Coordination and Supervision, Office of the Spouse of the Deputy President and Government Strategic Priorities and Interventions.

Under Administrative services, this involves the facilitation of DP and spouse engagements, and enhancing the level of coordination in the Office.

It also involves the maintenance of Gachagua's official residence in Karen, Nairobi as well as refurbishment and maintenance of the Harambee House Annex.

For coordination and supervision, this involves the preparation of four progress reports every financial year to update citizens on the implementation status of the government's strategies and also two consultative forums on the International Development Partnerships Coordination projects.

All engagements of Gachagua and Pastor Dorcas Rigathi are also accounted for in the budget. Additionally, donor-funded projects across Ministries, Departments and Agencies will be tracked and reported.

According to the National Treasury, a total of 44 progress reports are required every financial year.

The office of the Spouse of the Deputy President focuses on concerted efforts to uplift the boychild in society. Part of the Ksh4 billion will be used to identify and screen 12,000 boys for drug and substance abuse, facilitate 18 camps held in different counties,

The funds will also be used to train 2,400 boys, 1,000 widows, and 40 widows' groups and conduct ten sensitisation activities.

Other projects include coordination of Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC) services to facilitate effective coordination between national and county governments.
