UDA Party Postpones Election in 19 Centres

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) on Saturday postponed grassroots elections to Sunday, May 5, due to the ongoing floods in the country. 

The elections were postponed in 19 centres located in Kapenguria, Narok, Pokot and Kilgoris regions. 

“The rescheduled elections will now take place tomorrow, on the 5th of May 2024, commencing from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm,” the postponement notice read in part. 

In Kapenguria, the elections have been postponed in Tipet Primary School, Kasitei Polling Centre, Riting Primary School, and Kodungole Polling Centre.

Others are; Chepokachim Polling Centre, Salawa Polling Centre, Mosongkaging Polling Centre, Kaptemo Primary School, Mumot Polling Centre, and Muno ECDE Centre. 

In Kapenguria, the centres most affected are in Endough Ward.

In Pokot South, the elections were postponed in Kapchikar Primary School, Nyarkulian Primary School, and Tororo Primary School. 

The three centres are located in Tapach Warn in Pokot.

For Narok North, the grassroots elections have been postponed in Oyarata Polling Centre, Olopirik Polling, Ilpoltol Polling Centre, Entiyani Polling Centre, and Medungi Polling Centre. 

According to the UDA National Elections Board, the most affected place in Narok North is Olokurto Ward. 

Mosiro Polling Station in Narok East was also affected as well as Medungi Polling Centre in Kilgoris. 

The ruling party is conducting its first-ever nationwide grassroots elections as it gears for the 2027 general election.
