Rotich, Jepkemoi Win 5th Edition of Safaricom Sponsored Eldoret City Marathon

Victor Rotich Kipchirchir and Emily Jepkemoi on Sunday, April 21, were declared as the winners of the fifth edition of the Eldoret City Marathon held in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County. 

Emily Jepkemoi emerged as the winner in the women's race with a time of 2:30:13 while Martha Akeno claimed second place with a time of 2:31:52, with  Joan Jepkosgei securing the third position with a time of 2:34:15.

Both Rotich and Jepkemoi each pocketed Ksh3.5 million in cash, while the first runners-up, Felix Kipsang and Martha Akeno, took home Ksh1.5 million each. The second runners-up, Evans Kipruto and Joan Jepkosgei, each walked away with Ksh1 million.

In addition, all the top 20 winners in both men's and women's categories received Neon Ultra phones, the first locally assembled 4G smartphone in Kenya and airtime courtesy of Safaricom.
