Former Radio Citizen host Steve Jacob Maunda, also known as Shatta Bway has joined Cape Media days after announcing his exit from Royal Media Services (RMS).

In a statement by Radio47, it was revealed that Shatta Bway was joining the radio station as a show host.

He will also be serving in a similar capacity for TV47. Equally, he was appointed as the Director of Projects and Strategy at Maybet, which the media organisation runs.

"Shatta Bway joins Cape Media Limited; he will be the Director of Projects and Strategy for Maybets as well as TV47 and Radio47  host," read the statement in part.

On his part, the media personality posted an announcement video on his social media platforms. In the video, he is filmed announcing to his fans "Wadau, tumehama," loosely translated to "My people, we have moved."

The announcement by Cape Media comes days after he announced that he was leaving RMS to spend more time with his family.

"Where I am at in life, I am making decisions as two parents. I have to think like a mother and as a father and I need time with my children.

"My son is a teenager aged 13 years old and that is the point a parent is like to lose their children unknowingly," he stated then.

At Cape Media, he will be joining his former colleague Willis Raburu, who hosts the Wabebe Xperience every Friday.

Notably, the duo will also serve as directors given that Raburu was promoted to Director of Digital Services and Innovations at Cape Media in December 2023.

"Welcome home," Raburu wrote in his welcome message to the radio host.

In recent months, Cape Media has been on a charm offensive to poach from RMS. On March 1, the media house also appointed Kennedy Bahati as its new Creative Director. At RMS, Bahati helped identify monetisation opportunities for RMS products.
