Whatsapp has made changes to colour and layout of the social networking platform for a number of Kenyan users.

In the changes that were effected on Saturday, April 20, Whatsapp changed the dark mode background to a whiter background.

Additionally, the top green bar that was originally there had been removed. In the new look, only the WhatsApp is written in green alongside the camera and search icons.

"We’re using colour more intentionally so you can focus on the things that matter most on the screen.

"Some of our icons and buttons look different, including the shape and colour," WhatsApp explained.

Notably, these changes have been made for Android users with Kenyans using iPhones still having the old features and design.

Earlier on, WhatsApp had moved the tabs from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen. It was detailed that the new change was effected to enable users to have easy access to some of the tabs.

New filters were also incorporated on the search icon to enable users to search for various chats, polls and photos easily.

Meanwhile, the Founder and CEO at Meta, Mark Zuckerberg detailed that WhatsApp users will soon start enjoying Artificial Intelligence (AI) features which can generate images.

"We're making Meta AI easier to use by integrating it into the search boxes at the top of WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. We also built a website, meta.ai, for you to use on the web.

"We also built some unique creation features, like the ability to animate photos. Meta AI now generates high-quality images so fast that it creates and updates them in real time as you're typing. It'll also generate a playback video of your creation process," he announced on April 18, 2024.

The AI feature is yet to be rolled out in Kenya. However, it is being tested in other countries.
