The Social Health Authority (SHA) has announced a fresh round of senior leadership appointments after naming 16 new Deputy Directors and 9 Principal Claims Management Officers.

In a communique on Thursday, October 9, the SHA Board confirmed that the appointments followed a competitive and transparent recruitment process, which kicked off on July 9 2025.

The newly-appointed leaders will play a key role in strengthening SHA's operational efficiency, particularly in the delivery of financial risk protection and access to quality healthcare.

Among the notable appointments include Ms. Valentine Jepkorir Morogo as Deputy Director for County Coordination, Daniel Owino Konyango for Legal Services,  Caren Awuor Oduor for Finance, and Dr. Kandie Ng’ochoch for Claims Management.

Others named include Margaret Nyambura Macharia (Benefits Management), Jacob Muia Mutinda (Corporate Communications), and Geoffrey Kones (ICT). The appointments also cover internal audit, supply chain, registration and compliance, provider management, administration, and planning and linkages.

In addition, nine Principal Claims Management Officers were appointed to strengthen oversight and efficiency in claims processing, a core component of SHA’s operations.

The appointees include George Waihenya, Joseph Mboke, Omar Sadik, Scholarstic Murunga Wekesa, and Josephine Kuria Kuria, among others.

The 16 Deputy Directors will head strategic departments such as County Coordination, Legal Services, Finance and Accounts, Claims Management, Benefits Management, ICT, Corporate Communications, and Human Resources.

The appointments come just weeks after the Authority named four new Directors who were announced earlier in September.

During the earlier wave of appointments, Diana Marion, Golda Larissa Akolo, Mohammed Alio Ibrahim, and Jonathan Liesen were appointed as new directors.

Marion is set to be in charge of Provider and Beneficiary Management, while Akolo will oversee Benefits and Claim Management. Marion is currently the Secretary General of the Kenya Medical Association (KMA).

Meanwhile, Ibrahim will head Corporate Services, while Liesen will be in charge of Funds and Finance Management.

SHA also launched a large-scale recruitment drive to fill over 500 positions across its national and county operations, with vacancies ranging from senior management to entry-level roles.

On Thursday, the authority also released the names of shortlisted candidates for various positions, along with their ethnic backgrounds and the date of the in-person interview.

Among the roles that are up for contention include a director for internal audit, assistant director for legal services,  assistant director for Human resource management and development, assistant director for registration and compliance among others.
