28 Students Injured In Night Fire

28 students are reported injured after a fierce fire broke out on Monday night at Kamandura Girls Secondary School in Limuru, Kiambu County.

The students sustained injuries while trying to salvage their belongings when more than 10 dormitories caught fire.

Over 150 students were forced to sleep in an improvised hall as the dormitories were reduced to ashes in the 8pm incident.

The girls with minor injuries are said to have been treated by the St Johns medical team who responded to the fire alarm, while 10 others were taken to Tigoni Hospital.

In a statement, St Johns Ambulance Communications Director Fred Majiwa on Tuesday stated that the dormitories were reduced to ashes with the cause of the fire beleived to have been an electric fault.

In a separate incident, property of unknown value was destroyed at Kapsowar Girls’ and Sosiyo secondary schools in Elgeyo Marakwet and Uasin Gishu counties after fire razed down dormitories.
