31 Teenagers Arrested in Night Clubs

Police in Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu County, rounded up 31 teenagers flushed from night clubs, in a joint operation with members of Uasin Gishu Alcoholic Drinks and Drug Control Board.

The minors aged between 12-17 tried dogding  police officers by moving from one club to another before they were finally arrested.

The board’s director, Amstrong Ronoh, divulged that they acted upon receiving information regarding some teenagers who were regrouping after police foiled a party dubbed “Colour Festival”.

"We were surprised by the extent to which our kids have gone. Most of them were skimpily dressed," Ronoh stated.

According to a report by the Standard, the Colour Festival was to be attended by about 2000 youngsters with some travelling all the way from Kisumu.

However, the event was cancelled despite attempts by the organisers to convince police that it was not connected to the infamous 'Project X'.

Ronoh confirmed the closure of frequented clubs: Inferno and Spree, adding that the operators would be arraigned in court for breaching regulations.

The 31 teenagers were released on a cash bail of Sh1000 each as investigations continued.

Their arrests come as security agencies in the country have intensified surveillance, after reports recently emerged that a mega sex party known as Project X was being organised in Nairobi.
