Two days after David Murathe resigned as Jubilee Party Vice chairperson terming the position as 'untenable', Deputy President William Ruto's camp has revealed how they will deal with the shocker move.
The DP's personal assistant Farouk Kibet appeared on KTN News where he stated that there were no ill feelings towards Murathe's criticism of Ruto.
“He does not mean any harm with his statement. Maybe he will go and sit and reflect on and he will come back. He is one of us, we built this party from the scratch together, we want to move forward together with him and speaking as a person who knows the Deputy President I can tell you he will want us all to be one,” he explained.
As a matter of fact, Kibet expressed confidence that Murathe would rejoin the party and work together to sling the DP to the presidency.
"Many will oppose us, but many more will join us and he will among those who join hands with us and he cast his vote in affirmation that the Deputy President is fifth President of the Republic of Kenya,” he added.
Kibet further conveyed that the former Vice-chair had nowhere else to go and reconciliation was on the horizon.
“Murathe is not the first person to resign nor is he the first person to oppose the DP’s candidature but everything will be okay. He had a decision to make and he knows why he did what he did but there are no permanent enemies in politics. I believe we will be reconciled with our brother because he has no other place to go,” he stated during the interview.
The comments come after Murathe, who is strongly opposed to a Ruto presidency stated that he was scheming a mass walk-out of members from the Jubilee party.
"We are ready to form a new coalition and I can tell you for sure it will crush Ruto and his group. I can tell him for free that he will be lucky to be an opposition leader," Murathe was quoted by The Star.
Earlier reports indicate Murathe was strong-armed into resigning after DP Ruto made a call to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
According to Nation, the former party Vice Chair was forced out to prevent his sentiments against the DP from splitting the party.
Sources stated that Ruto called Uhuru on Sunday morning demanding to know why Murathe "is still a party official even with his views aimed at breaking Jubilee".
