Wavinya Ndeti, the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing, Urban Development and Public Works, has resigned.
The CAS announced her resignation on Friday, February 4. In her address to the press, Wavinya noted that she will now focus her energy and time on campaigning to succeed Alfred Mutua as the Machakos Governor.
Wavinya thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for the opportunity accorded to her to serve in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
“Kenya will never be the same again with the infrastructure we have now. We have worked with the President well and I thank him so much," she stated.
She also took the opportunity to officially announce her Machakos gubernatorial bid.
"This time around the people of Machakos are ready. They want to take their county back through Wavinya Ndete, who is their daughter; born and bred there," she stated.
Her resignation comes barely a day after former Inspector General of Police (IG) Joseph Boinnet announced he was leaving his position as the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.
Speaking after his final appearance in Parliament on Thursday, February 3, the CAS stated that he had resigned from his position as he prepares to launch his campaign for the Elgeyo-Marakwet Gubernatorial seat.
Boinnet stated that he was leaving the position after a 3-year stint since he was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta in March 2019.
"I have just come from Parliament, leading a team from the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife where I've been the Chief Administrative Secretary for the last three years.
"So today's appearance in Parliament marks the end of my tour of duty as a Chief Administrative Secretary. Immediately after this, I am going to tender my resignation as Chief Administrative Secretary because I intend to head to the county where I was born to vie for the position of Governor. That is the county of Elgeyo-Marakwet," he noted.
Boinnet thanked the Head of State explaining that he was honoured to be bequeathed the leadership of two key positions in the country.
