Veteran comedian John Kiarie has finally confirmed that he has shifted camp from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to Jubilee coalition.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on Wednesday, Kiarie, popularly known as KJ, explained that he had been impressed with the Jubilee government's agenda for the youth and had been working with the ruling coalition since 2013.
The comedian further indicated that he would be vying for the Dagoretti South parliamentary seat under a Jubilee affiliated party ticket.
The former entertainer added that he was supporting the merger of parties in the Jubilee coalition, to form one political vehicle for next year's General Election.
Kiarie, further divulged that he was concentrating on sensitizing his supporters to register as voters in the ongoing campaign by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), adding that declaring his candidature was more important than the party he would use.
The former ODM proponent elicited reactions on social media when he expressed his bid to vie for the seat, with some claiming that he was not a native of the constituency.
However, Kiarie denied the claims saying that he was a resident of the area, describing it as his home.
Mr Kiarie has previously been involved in politics having contested for the Dagoretti South parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket during the 2013 elections, but lost in the party primaries to incumbent Simba Arati.
