The Kenya National Examination Council has unveiled a new testing system that it believes could be the solution to the recurrent examination leakages, with this year's irregularity incidents being glaring.
KNEC announced that it will be rolling out an Electronic Tests Administration system where candidates will tackle questions and submit answers online.
The system, which will be piloted on Monday, will require candidates to log in using their exam registration details, after which the exam questions will be availed.
According to KNEC CEO Joseph Kivilu, questions shall be sent to candidates immediately they log into the system, with timing also kicking off at that moment.
As soon as the time elapses, the system will log out automatically.
The piloting will be implemented using 55 candidates who will be sitting for the KCSE Qualifying Test, after which, if the system proves successful, it will be rolled out to the major national examinations.
Mr Kivilu noted that the examination format and testing for this QT pilot had been refined to multiple choices.
The KNEC boss holds that the new system could deal a huge blow to those watering down the credibility of the exam, through enhancing leakages, since the exams will be under the control of the Council until the day and time of the particular paper.
This comes as the latest strategy, set to be implemented to curb the rampant leakages which have tainted the nationl exams credibility.
