Tuk-tuk Driver Found With Dead Sex Worker

A Nakuru tuk-tuk driver was arrested on Sunday after the body of a sex worker was found in his tri-wheel vehicle.

The sex worker identified as Mourine, was only three months old in the controversial business and was found with strangulation marks on her neck.

Police on patrol in the town reportedly saw the tuk-tuk at Freehold Estate, and noticed a woman who appeared to be unconcious seated at the back. According to NTV, the man later confessed to having murdered Mourine in cold blood.

“The police arrested the man while the victim was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead,” said the police boss, Musa Kong'oli.

According to Lydia Nyambura, a friend to the deceased, she was shocked to receive news of Mourine's death on Sunday noting that the deceased was okay on Friday.

“I have not seen her since Friday...today morning I was woken up to news that she was killed,” she said.

This comes barely a week after another prostitute was killed at a lodging, also in Nakuru town, after she allegedly stole Sh20,000 from her client.

“We are tired of burying our own. We now want prostitution to become legal because our customers are taking advantage of us,” said Doris Achieng a sex worker in Nakuru.

Nakuru County OCPD Musa Kong'oli, urged residents to be forthcoming with information of the latest killing in order to speed up investigations into the matter.

In the past five months, more than 10 sex workers have been killed in Nakuru
