On Thursday, April 25, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) issued a warning to Kenyans regarding the emergence of fraudsters targeting job seekers.

In a statement, KWS highlighted that these fraudsters were distributing counterfeit admission letters to Kenyans, falsely promising them positions within the service as officers.

The warning comes at a time when KWS has recently conducted mass recruitment for cadets and rangers.

Therefore, Kenyans were advised to be wary of fraudsters out to swindle Kenyans of their hard-earned money.

Further, Kenyans who had fallen victim to the fraudsters were encouraged to report the matter to the authorities.

"The attention of the Kenya Wildlife Service has been drawn to fake calling letters being issued by fraudsters. We strongly advise the public to be vigilant of the fake letters and report the fraudsters to the nearest KWS Station or Police Station.

"As stated in the advert and at all recruitment centres, the recruitment process was free of charge," read the statement in part.

KWS has undertaken a mass recruitment exercise in recent weeks.

As detailed in its advert that was published in March, KWS was seeking to recruit 1,500 Kenyans to their service during the nationwide exercise.

Following the success exercise, chosen candidates will undergo mandatory paramilitary training at the Law Enforcement Agency.

Consequently, the newly recruited servicemen and women will deployed to eight areas including Tsavo, Eastern, Mountain, Southern, Coast and Central Rift.

"KWS sought individuals who are capable of enduring taxing training conditions, by dint of the fact that the Service operates in remote terrains whilst carrying out its conservation mandate," read the statement in part.
