Sports journalist Fred Arocho announced his departure from the Citizen TV sports show on Wednesday, March 6.

Taking to social media, the veteran journalist informed his fans that it was time to conclude his tenure at the Sporty Monday show at the media house.

"It’s been 4 yrs of great moments at Citizen TV’s Sporty Monday Show. I truly enjoyed every bit of my stay," he stated.

He however did not disclose his next venture whether it was in the media industry or elsewhere.

The news left his fans shocked with most of them subsequently urging him to declare his next step. They also wished him all the best in his endeavours.

Arocho responded to one of his fans when asked what his next direction was stating, "Directions soon."

The journalist was part of the panellists who recapped and analysed sporting events especially football on the show which aired every Monday from 8 am to 10 am.

Besides the show, Arocho works at Radio 47 as a sports presenter. He moved to the Cape Media-owned station after leaving Radio Jambo where he worked for over 14 years.

Arocho left in 2023, explaining that Radio 47 had offered him a better salary, growth opportunities and a different work environment.

"I was being paid well at Radio Jambo but Radio 47 increased the package and now it feels the efforts I have put in and the time I have been on radio are finally paying off," he stated.

At Radio 47, Arocho still works in the sports commentary department alongside Hassan Mwana wa Ali. He also hosts two sports shows on Saturdays and Sundays.

Notably, Arocho is among various media personalities who have exited from Citizen TV

Journalists Chemutai Goin and Hassan Mugambi left the team in February to join the office of the National Assembly Speaker and the Ministry of Defence respectively.
