The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Thursday, April 18, arrested Nairobi County employees over bribery allegations.

According to the commission, the two employed under City Hall were detained and grilled after reports were made. They however denied the claims.

In the report made, the first employee, JK, serves as the Embakasi East Sub-County Administrator and the second accused APO serves as a compliance and enforcement officer.

The two on a date not revealed, demanded a Ksh300,000 bribe from the complainant to facilitate the setting up of a business in the Embakasi area.

According to the complainant, the government officials promised to fast-track the hosting of a container on a road reserve near the complainant’s plot.

“The suspects were interviewed at Integrity Centre on Thursday and released on cash bail pending completion of the investigation,” EACC moted.

Recent Incidents Surrounding Nairobi County Employees

Nairobi County has been in a negative light in the recent past, following harassment reports by City Kanjos. Most complained of businesses getting raided and closed without following the necessary protocols.

A good number of victims in those reports also cited physical assault and destruction of property of unknown value.

In the most recent attack, Women Representative aspirant Millicent Omanga on April 12, accused Nairobi governor Sakaja of instigating and targeting her businesses in Nairobi.

According to Omanga, kanjos raided and closed her businesses prompted by her recent social media sentiments that directly targeted failure within the County operations.

“This illegal and unjustified action follows my comment on the Auditor General's report on Nairobi County, which appears to have infuriated him,” Omanga claimed.

Comedian Eric Omondi in a recent video circulating online exposed the city officials harassing and beating up a woman, before loading several others in a city van.

“I have caught them in the act, this is someone's child,” Eric Omondi stated recording a woman who had fainted lying on the ground. The woman was allegedly choked by one of the kanjos for failing to pay some money.
