Former KTN Presenter Jamal Gaddafi has thanked well-wishers who he credits with saving his life during raging floods in Westlands, Nairobi.

Through his social media posts, Jamal, who won the Presenter Show season 2, stated that his car was swept away along First Parklands Road.

A series of video clips he shared accompanying the post showed the car immersed halfway into the raging waters.

"Alhamdullilah. I narrowly escaped death this morning along (First Parklands Road) in Parklands when my car was swept away by floods," he shared on Sunday.

"I am lucky that a group of well-wishers quickly came to rescue me. I urge Nairobi County Governor Johnson Sakaja to work on the drainage systems in Nairobi."

While calling for Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja to lead efforts in repairing the drainage system, Gaddafi revealed that he was leaving the hospital when the accident happened.

"I was on my way from the Hospital. I am deeply indebted to all the passers-by who took very little time to save me after the accident," he added.

"Alhamdulillah. Nairobi County Government should unclog the drainage system along Ojijo road and other areas to avert dangers of flooding."

The rains, which have been pounding the city for weeks now, have made roads impassable and submerged cars stranded along highways.

Traffic police officers reported immense snarl-ups on Sunday due to the flooding with Namanga Road in Kitengela being the most affected.

Some of the affected vehicles included a public service bus that was ferrying passengers on Saturday night.

Politician Alinur Mohammed reiterated that the city's drainage system had become a mess and called for urgent action.

"My brother Gaddaffi is okay after his car was swept away by floods this morning along Ojijo Road, Parklands. He was rescued by eyewitnesses. Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja you should sort this drainage systems mess immediately before you go home in 2027," he stated.

Gaddafi won KTN's the Presenter in 2015 alongside former KTN anchor Michele Ngele. He hosted the Iwake show before quitting ahead of the 2022 General Elections. He later landed another show, Arena 254, on K24 TV in mid-2023.
