"This notice takes effect from between April 8, 2024, and April 30, 2024," read the notice in part.

This marks the second time Nassir has waived penalties and fees related to Parking in the Coastal County.

In February, he waived all residential parking fees explaining that the decision was made in an effort to help residents cope with the high cost of living.

"In response to the rising cost of living, the approved Finance Bill 2024 gives relief to residents by waiving parking fees in residential areas as well as reducing clamping fees."

"Moreover, towards tackling the rising cost of food, inspection fees for chicks and other poultry products have been waived," the governor explained.

In Mombasa, saloon car owners are often expected to part with Ksh200 daily parking while small lorries of up to 5 tonnes pay Ksh300, which totals to Ksh80,400 when billed annually.

In a separate category, vehicles that weigh between 5 tonnes and 10 tonnes are expected to pay Ksh1,000 parking fee daily.

Zones where parking is designated include Kisauni, Mombasa CBD, Changamwe, Nyali, Likoni and Shimanzi.
