Two construction workers were captured on camera on Wednesday, April 24, plastering a leaking roof in Ruaka, Kiambu County.

The multi-storey building had started to leak due to the intense downpours experienced in the region and other parts of the country.

To prevent a tragedy, the workers were contracted to seal the leaks causing the houses below to flood.

The construction workers overseeing the project revealed no imminent risk to the building.

“This has been caused due to some cracks that were caused by previous electrical works in the building,” one of the workers stated.

The construction worker did not reveal if the leaking had compromised the building's structure.

Ruaka is one of the regions that have been affected by the ongoing heavy rains with several tenants in the town and neighbouring areas asked to evacuate.

On Monday, Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi revealed that one person lost his life after a wall collapsed in the area.

The flooding has also affected business activities in Muchatha and Ndenderu in Kiambu County.

In Nairobi, the rains have led to the submerging of houses and cars in Mathare, Mwiki and other regions in the capital.

Additionally, Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) partially closed Aerodrome Road, Kapenguria Road,  UN Avenue - Runda,  and Kasarani Mwiki Road at Mwiki Bridge.

The flooding has also affected various regions in Kajiado and Machakos Counties which has led to disruption of travel activities along Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.
