The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) on Tuesday, March 26, unveiled several alternative routes for Kenyans seeking to access the venue of the World Rally Championship set to be held in Naivasha.

KeNHA while announcing the alternative routes, vowed to tame any potential traffic snarl-up and assured Kenyans of a smooth flow of traffic.

The alternative routes provided by KeNHA primarily cater to Kenyans travelling from Nairobi and its neighbouring counties, such as Kiambu, who are aiming to access the rally venue.

As outlined by KeNHA, the initial 'scenic' route involves travelling from Nairobi to Rironi in Kiambu County via the Magumu flyover. From there, the route continues to Njabini Ol Kalou before proceeding to Ol Joro Orok and ultimately reaching Lanet.

Another alternative route, dubbed aptly as 'the adventurous route' is from Nairobi to Rironi to Naivasha, then to Engineer through to Ol Kalo and finally through Ol Joro Orok to Lanet.

The third route is from Thika In Kiambu County to the Magumu area through Ol Kalou town then to Ol Joro Orok and finally to Lanet.

A final route is through the Suswa Shortcut in Nairobi through Ngong town then to Kibiko to Suswa

In the alternative final route, travellers were advised to watch out for the gravel stretch with KeNHA recommending 4x4 vehicles to avoid being stuck along the way.

The World Rally Championship is set to kick off on March 28 and end on March 31 with the competition promising fans around the globe a high-voltage competition backed with entertainment.

Several foreign participants have already arrived in Kenya even as they await the kick of the rally events. Speaking ahead of the start of the competitions, President William Ruto has assured Kenyans of security.

“I take this opportunity to assure every participant that every measure has been taken by relevant government agencies to ensure that the Safari rally is safe and secure,” the head of state noted.
