Inooro TV under the Royal Media Services (RMS) has implemented some changes in what seems to be a plan to improve the media house's performance.

A source privy to the changes told Kenyans.co.ke on Wednesday, March 27, that Patrick Rukwaro who previously worked as the Managing Editor has been demoted.

Rukwaro has been moved to Special Projects at the organisation. These changes were effectively implemented.

His position has been given to Lincoln Njogu. Previously, Njogu worked as the Deputy Managing Editor at the Kikuyu vernacular station.

In the announcements made by the Group Editorial Director at RMS Linus Kaikai, Julius Kariithi was promoted to News Producer.

Additionally, Harun Maina was promoted to the role of News Producer.

"I am pleased to announce changes in the editorial leadership of Inooro TV. These appointments are part of ongoing efforts to consolidate the performance of Inooro TV," Kaikai stated in a memo.

Before their appointment, Kariithi was a news reporter at the vernacular station and also at Radio Citizen while Maina was also a news reporter and at some point wrote on the Citizen Digital news website.

However, after demoting Hellen Maina as News Producer, Kaikai did not reveal her new role or whether her contract was terminated.

In other changes, reporters Caroline Kinyugo, Martin Munene and Harun Njoroge were appointed as News Editors.

Inooro TV is among the major vernacular stations in the country with a huge following from Central Kenya. It was launched in October 2015 featuring top journalists such as Mike Njenga, Ken Wakuraya, Muthoni wa Mukiri and Francis Gachuri.

In a report from Geopoll released in September 2023, Inooro TV had garnered about 5.3 million viewers from the 3rd of the month to the 9th.

In another report from the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) released in February 2023, the station was in sixth position with 6 per cent of the market share. It was among two vernacular stations in the top ten. Ramogi TV also run by RMS had 3 per cent.
