KDF Reveals Burial Preparations After CDF Ogolla's Death

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) on Friday, April 19, announced burial plans for the late Chief of Defence Forces, General Francis Ogolla.

In a statement, KDF noted General Ogolla would be buried on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at his home in Ng'iya village, Siaya
County, 

According to KDF, the burial will be conducted per his last wishes and similarly in line with established military procedures.

A post-mortem examination had also been conducted at the Mashujaa Funeral Home at the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital.

The military Honours ceremony will also be conducted on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang'ata from 1 pm.

"The honours will include a church service, military parade and a 19-gun salute. A detailed programme for the ceremony will be made public as soon as it's ready," read the statement by KDF in part.

Among those set to attend the military honours ceremony include President William Ruto, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

Others who will also be in attendance are the Senior government officials, the leadership of Parliament, the Judiciary, political leaders, commanders of the security sector and members of the Diplomatic Corps.

On Sunday, April 21, 2024, the deceased's body will be airlifted to  Alego Usonga Sub-county, Siaya County, for burial on the same day.

"This will be preceded by a church service at his local church in Nduru," KDF noted.

"Additionally, a memorial service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Lang'ata, in line with the wishes of the family."

General Ogolla died on Thursday, April 18, in a military chopper crash that occurred at Elgeyo Marakwet County. The military chief died alongside 9 other officers.
